Yoga has become increasingly popular in the Western World, partly due to our search for physical fitness, and to our yearning for stillness and peace of mind. Classical Hatha Yoga uses the body in order to reach our maximum level of fitness and health. The techniques also guide us to see beyond our mental and emotional limitations. In simple terms this is Self-Realisation, Consciousness and Awareness.

Ashtanga Yoga is a system of Hatha Yoga discovered by Krishnamacharya in the 1930s and formulated by Shri k. Pattabhi Jois. It was based on an ancient text called the Yoga Korunta written by Vamena Rishi. The practice centres on sequences of movement, co-ordinated with the rhythm of an even breath. This forms a graceful flow. The style has aerobic qualities, which have led to it being classified as Dynamic Yoga.
